Driver Dead, 23, After Losing Control Causing Chain Reaction Crash In Glen Burnie: Police

A 23-year-old man was dead and three are injured after a violent crash in Glen Burnie, authorities say.

Jason Tyler Crawford was heading west on Route 100 in a Honda Accord EX when he lost control near the I-97 overpass and struck a concrete barrier around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, Anne Arundel County police said.

A 2005 Toyota Corolla then swerved to avoid the Honda and struck a concrete barrier on the opposite side of the roadway. 

After both vehicles struck the barriers, a Ford pickup truck and and unknown vehicle stopped in both travel lanes to try and block traffic. The front seat passenger of the unknown vehicle then got out of the vehicle to render aid to the driver of the Honda Accord.

A Honda Civic traveling westbound approaching the crash scene struck the rear of the Ford and swerved around it on the left shoulder. The Honda Civic continued westbound and then struck the Honda Accord. The pedestrian, who was standing outside of the Honda Accord, was struck by the Honda Civic. 

Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Corolla, the pedestrian, and the driver of the Honda Civic were transported to Baltimore Washington Medical center by Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics with minor injuries.

This crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
